BUS / SHUTTLE

GETTING THERE BY BUS / SHUTTLE

Many transport operators provide bus transfer services in France. Below is a non-exhaustive list of some of these companies:

To organise your journey, you can also use multimodal platforms such as Trainline, which allow you to search for and compare some train and bus transport options. This platform is mentioned for information only and does not constitute an exhaustive list of available solutions.

Getting around the Chamonix Valley, from Servoz to Vallorcine, will be easier thanks to the Chamonix Mobilite public transport network.

Carpooling

CARPOOLING TO THE EVENT

If you cannot find a suitable train or bus option, we strongly recommend optimising the number of passengers per vehicle, with at least 3 people, by travelling with friends where possible or by offering your remaining seats on a carpooling platform such as BlaBlaCar.

Car

As travel within the Chamonix Mont-Blanc Valley is very easy thanks to public transport, and as private cars are not needed during the event, we strongly recommend using train and bus services to travel to the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc.

WARNING! As city-centre car parks are saturated, using your car to travel around the valley is strongly discouraged : please use the valley’s public transport services.

Plane

ACCESS BY AIR

To reach Chamonix while reducing your carbon footprint, choose a direct itinerary with a single flight to one of the nearest airports:

  • Geneva (GVA) – approximately 1 hour 30 minutes away, with several bus companies offering direct transfers to Chamonix, or a train from Geneva Cornavin station.
  • Lyon Saint-Exupery (LYS) – approximately 2 hours 30 minutes away, with a direct TGV to Annecy or Bellegarde, followed by a train or bus to Chamonix.
  • Milan Malpensa (MXP) – direct bus services to Chamonix with BlaBlaCar or FlixBus.
  • Zurich (ZRH) – travel through Switzerland by train for a scenic journey.
  • Paris (CDG/ORY) – direct TGV to Annecy or Bellegarde, followed by a train or bus to Chamonix.

If you arrive at the airport, DO NOT RENT A CAR! Many operators offer transfers to Chamonix.

You can also use platforms such as Trainline to compare and organise certain train or bus transport options. This solution is provided for information only and does not constitute an exhaustive list of available operators.

By limiting the number of flights and choosing public transport, you help preserve the magnificent Mont-Blanc region.

La Région

The Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes Region, mobility partner of the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc :

Every day, more than 220,000 passengers travel across the region thanks to TER services. With nearly 1,500 daily trains structuring the network, 326 interurban and school transport lines covering the territory, and on-demand transport services for local mobility, the Region is present in everyday travel.

It works to improve passenger services and promote intermodal travel with Oura, an app offering online ticket sales for 21 networks and an efficient route planner thanks to 56 partner networks. It also provides a carpooling service and bicycle lockers at stations.

Today, the Region allocates one third of its budget, nearly €1.3 billion per year in operating expenditure, to TER services and interurban and school transport.
