EQUAL RIGHTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
UTMB strongly believes in equal rights and opportunities for all members of the trail-running community. We continue to build inclusion and diversity policies on gender, race, age, social class and more. We endeavour to grow and continue to evolve the sport and to make UTMB World Series welcoming for each athlete.
UTMB World Series Paths to Parenthood Policy
At UTMB World Series, we believe that parenthood and trail running can go hand in hand. Our Paths to Parenthood policy is designed to support athletes through one of life’s most personal journeys, whether it’s pregnancy, adoption, surrogacy, or medically assisted reproduction, so they can continue to dream, progress, and return to the start line when they’re ready.
For some runners, this support makes all the difference. What once felt like a difficult choice between sport and family becomes something else entirely: a new source of strength, a new reason to keep going, a new finish line to run toward.
Developed alongside the Pro Trail Runners Association (PTRA), this policy reflects the realities of athletes’ lives, from elite competitors to everyday runners, and helps create a sport where no one has to choose between becoming a parent and staying part of the trail community.
Because sometimes, the most powerful motivation is waiting for you at the finish line.

UTMB World Series Adaptive Athlete Policy
As part of UTMB Group's ongoing efforts to increase and encourage the participation of adaptive athletes in trail running events, UTMB Group has implemented a new policy for all UTMB World Series events. This policy aims to officially recognize adaptive athletes and provide them with solutions to facilitate their participation in UTMB World Series events.
Who is eligible for the policy?
This policy applies to athletes with the following impairments:
- Visual Impairment (*)
- Intellectual Disability (*)
- Physical or Neurological Movement Disability (*)
(*) Download the full “Adaptive Athlete Policy” document below for detailed eligibility criteria.
Note: This policy applies to athletes able to run using their own physical effort. Some events can also accommodate athletes using a trail wheelchair or joëlette, in a non-competitive format. For more information, please contact the event of your choice directly.
Guide-Runner Policy:
All officially recognized adaptive athletes may be accompanied by a guide runner, free of charge, for all or part of the course.
Qualification System for UTMB World Series Finals:
As part of our ongoing commitment to inclusivity and equal access, a facilitated pathway to the Finals has also been established for adaptive athletes.
