Runners' health is our priority
The HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc makes every effort to ensure the safety and security of all runners. We also lead numerous informative and preventative initiatives and actions for runner health.
Since the first event in 2003, the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc has looked to maintain the authenticity and fair-play of the sport. The UTMB group created a health policy that blends prevention, information and checksl, aiming to ensure that the races take place fairly. We encourage the athletes to show the greatest transparency, in an exemplary fashion.
The HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc is also tremendous research laboratory for ultra-endurance sports. The scale of the races, as well as the number of participants allow our scientific partners to carry out research in optimal conditions, and therefore to better understand the health risks linked to the intense practice of trail-running. This scientific research has led to the publication of numerous papers in the domains of sport, science and health.
The Medical Committee
Since 2007, a medical commission, open to different members of the medical and paramedical corps, contributes, after each event, a summary of the medical activity during the races. It advises the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc management on the measures which should be taken.
Equally, it validates research subjects, certain of which have become the subject of official publications. Among the numerous studies made: the trail-running population and the cardio-vascular risks, pathologies presented during the race, the causes of abandonments, self-medication, fatigue from great endurance and recuperation problems, digestive problems, the effects of kinésio-taping...
SUGGEST A MEDICAL STUDY
You are a professional or a reasercher and have a medical or para-medical study project related to the practice of ultra-endurance sports? The HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc can be the ideal support for this. Each year, the Medical Commission studies and validates several study projects. These studies are then the subject of a popularized report and specific advice to help runners in their daily practice of sport. To propose your study project, simply download the form below and return it filled before February 15th to dr.lemaslelastiolas@arthrosport-argonay.com
