Donation of sports gear and clothing
Donate your sports gear: a meaningful act of solidarity
Every year, thousands of sports clothes and equipment sit unused in our closets, barely worn. Yet, these items still have plenty of life left in them. Whether you're a runner, hiker, or simply someone who enjoys staying active, donating your sports gear and clothing can help share the passion for sport with others, wherever they may be.
The Nepal Project: a sports gear donation drive during the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc.
The Nepal Project is an initiative launched in 2022 by Sylvie Barquant, president of the Solidarity Committee of the Friends of the UTMB Mont-Blanc. Its goal is to improve access to trail running equipment for Nepalese runners. Thanks to our partnership with Ram Puri, a Nepalese guide and runner, the committee will collect any unused gear during race bib pick-up.
Do you have gear you no longer use? A pair of shoes, a headlamp, or a trail running pack gathering dust in your closet could make a big difference. Everything you donate will be sent to Nepal and distributed to local communities.
Why donate your sports gear?
Donating isn’t just getting rid of something. It’s giving a second life to something useful — making space at home while helping those who can’t afford the gear they need.
3 good reasons to donate:
♻️ Cut down on textile waste: Sports gear uses a lot of technical materials that can still be reused.
🤝 Make a meaningful gesture: A pair of shorts or a jacket can help someone train, improve, and push their limits.
🌍 Support access to sport worldwide: Even in rural, remote, or underprivileged areas, your donation can make a difference.
How can you get involved in the Nepal Project?
To make this initiative a success, we need you!
What we’re looking for in 2025:
To best support Nepalese athletes, here is the gear we hope to collect. All donations can be dropped off at the “Second-Hand Trail Running Gear” booth during race bib pick-up.
All items must be in good condition!
- Trail running shoes 👟
- Waterproof jackets 🧥
- Trail running packs 🎒
- Soft flasks or water bottles 🥤

Your donations help grow the trail running community in Nepal — a country that has produced great champions like Dawa Sherpa, Sange Sherpa, and Sunmaya Budha, runner-up in the 2022 CCC.

Not taking part in the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc? You can still donate year-round!
While the Nepal Project is a one-time initiative, donating sports gear has no season. You can contribute all year long by dropping off your equipment at local or national organizations that promote access to sport.
Here are a few examples of organizations to contact: Sport dans la Ville (France) – Un maillot pour la vie – Recyclerie du sport – Emmaüs – Secours populaire – or local community sports clubs
Some sports shops or brands also run temporary donation drives — check what's happening near you!
Donating your sports gear is more than just a simple gesture!
It’s about being part of a solidarity movement, promoting sport for all, and giving your equipment a second life — one that truly matters.
So whether you’re attending the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc or not, remember: your gear still has a future — somewhere else..
