GREFFE DE VIE

In 2023, 1 ultra-trail for 2 essential causes:

Promoting organ transplantation and donation. Access to care in all territories

In 2023, the Foundation of the French Academy of Medicine and its affiliate Life Graft Foundation are joining forces so that your solidarity bib benefits 2 essential causes for improving the health of as many people as possible.

ULTRA-TRAIL FOR ORGAN DONATION

Did you know that by donating your organs after death, you can save up to seven lives?

Through its communication and advocacy actions, the Life Graft Foundation under the umbrella of the Foundation of the French Academy of Medicine acts on a daily basis in favor of organ and tissue donation, with one primary objective: to overcome shortage.

To do this, we are convinced of the importance of disseminating the “culture of giving” by raising awareness among the public to make their wishes known to those around them.

Indeed, in the event of a sudden death, the medical professional asks your relatives if you are opposed to the removal of your organs. Anticipating this question also means protecting them from additional pain.

Concretely, thanks to you in 2023, the Life Graft Foundation under the aegis of the Foundation of the French Academy of Medicine will:

  • Promote the "green ribbon" which symbolizes the message "All recipients, all donors" in all territories

  • Organize actions to promote the National Day of Reflection on Organ Donation and Transplantation which takes place every year on June 22

ULTRA-TRAIL FOR ACCESS TO CARE IN ALL TERRITORIES

  • 30.2% of the French population lives in a medical desert (i.e. a lack of around 6,000 general practitioners).

  • Medical studies are long and expensive: 25% of students have already considered stopping their medical studies for financial reasons and 46% do not recommend their own course.

  • There is therefore an urgent need to encourage vocations and support students wishing to train in health professions.

  • In September 2022, the Foundation of the French Academy of Medicine launched a new program aimed at medical and pharmacy students from disadvantaged or rural backgrounds. This program is made up of solidarity scholarships and a mentoring program by Academicians. Already 40 student beneficiaries this year!

  • Concretely, thanks to you in 2023, the Foundation of the French Academy of Medicine will be able to:

  • Continue this program at the start of the 2023 academic year

  • Increase the number of beneficiary students
