In 2018, the MCC was born, a 40km race open to local runners and volunteers. Four years later, the huge amount of success led the organization to launch a new format just as appealing and popular. The ETC, for Experience Trail Courmayeur - a new 15km race with 1300m of positive elevation gain -completes the UTMB® Mont-Blanc’s sports and experience offer.
"There was a real desire to offer this new distance which is for everyone: experienced runners, amateurs, families and volunteers. This shorter format allows you to get a taste of the trail running experience before testing yourself on a longer distance. The ETC is a race for all, friendly and popular. We are doing our best to ensure that this race is a thrilling experience for runners, crews and all those involved in the event," explains Isabelle Viseux Poletti, Director of the UTMB® Mont-Blanc.
With 15km and 1300 meters of positive elevation gain around Courmayeur, the ETC is a trail challenge that gives a taste of the racing atmosphere in the heart of the UTMB® Mont-Blanc week. The course crosses the mountain pastures of Tirecorne and Suche, two magnificent natural terraces that will plunge the runners into the contemplation of the Mont-Blanc range. Participants will enjoy an amazing visual experience, with the route winding through the forests of spruces and larches. The winners of the race should complete the loop in an hour and thirty minutes and the time limit to cross the finish line is 4 hours. Making the most of the local flavor, runners will be invited to taste an authentic and well-deserved pizza at the finish line.
The ETC will take place in the heart of the Aosta Valley with a start and finish in the town of Courmayeur, which now hosts three race starts: the TDS®, on Tuesday, August 23 at midnight, the YCC on Tuesday, August 23 at 12, the ETC on Tuesday, August 23 at 2:00 p.m., and the CCC® on Friday, August 26 at 9:00 a.m. Registration is open to everyone without having to go through the lottery and within the limits of available places. Participants may register from Tuesday, April 19 at 12:00 (CET).
