UTMB Information

The Fréjus tunnel will remain closed for several more days. This closure is causing the diversion of a large part of the traffic between France and Italy through the Mont-Blanc tunnel. Despite this, thanks to the exceptional effort and cooperation of all stakeholders, we can maintain the scheduled service. However, all runners and supporters should expect significant disruptions to the journeys between Chamonix and Courmayeur, the duration of which could last up to 3 hours on Saturday, both from Chamonix to Courmayeur and from Courmayeur to Chamonix. Trips to Saint-Gervais/Les Contamines and to Switzerland should not be impacted.

Since Sunday evening, a landslide has made it impossible to access the Fréjus tunnel. Road traffic between France and Italy has largely shifted to the Mont-Blanc tunnel, resulting in exceptional saturation of the tunnel and major traffic problems between Chamonix and Courmayeur. The situation will probably not be resolved until the end of the week.

For the OCC: no impact on the transportation for accompanying persons throughout the course.

For the CCC: no impact on the transport for runners to the start of the race. For those following the race, transfers to the start will be ensured and the immediate return to Chamonix guaranteed as initially indicated. For accompanying persons wishing to extend the follow-up in Italy (Arnouvaz), we cannot guarantee the waiting times at the tunnel to return to Chamonix all day-long (lately, this journey has taken up to 3 hours because of the long wait to get through the tunnel).

For the UTMB: we are doing our utmost to maintain the planned service as best we can, but we can expect major disruption to journeys between Chamonix and Courmayeur, which could last up to 3 hours on Saturday, both in the Chamonix-Courmayeur direction and in the Courmayeur-Chamonix direction. However, journeys to Saint-Gervais/Les Contamines and to Switzerland will not be affected. We will have more precise information by midday on Friday.
